Alison J Perry OBE – Profile

AlisonAfter many years in the construction industry, running her own company with her husband, Alison joined us in May 2012.  Alison was a close friend of Julie, our former PA, and they had also worked together for 8 years previously.

During the years of 2000-12 Alison held 3 positions within the National Federation of Builders as Liverpool Association President, North West Chairman and National Chairman. Each position was history in the making as she was the first female to be elected to each one. As a thank you for the all the hard work, Alison received an OBE from Her Majesty the Queen in the Birthday Honours List June 2012.

Alison brings a wealth of experience to Advanced Wind Solutions and is an integral part of the team.

Julie Ann Riley-McLinden

Julie

10th June 1967 – 21st April 2012

On the 21st of April 2012 our close friend and colleague Julie Riley-McLinden passed away at the Woodlands Hospice, Liverpool. Julie was instrumental in the formation of Advanced Wind Solutions, her drive and enthusiasm were second to none and coupled with Julie’s warm personality and never failing sense of humour she was indispensible to our business, but above all she was our friend and is sorely missed by us all. During the later stage of her illness Julie received care from the staff of the Woodlands Hospice who treated her with dignity and respect at this difficult time. We fully support this charitable organisation and encourage others to do the same.

Monopile inspections

We are still providing our specialist services to assist with offshore confined space projects – which are currently ongoing within the 60 Vestas wind turbines that make up E.ON’s Robin Rigg wind farm. 2013 marks the 4th consecutive year AWS have been contracted to work with the team at Robin Rigg.

Overview:

E.ON Operations require an experienced, safe and efficient team to work in conjunction with their in-house engineering department. They need to carry out a number of routine technical inspections within the interior void of the monopile structure of each turbine. We provide an ‘advanced rescue and confined space’ trained team, to work alongside E.ON, helping them to maintain the highest standards of safety throughout the project.AWS also fulfil the role of Nominated Competent Person (NCP) whilst working on the turbines.
We also liaise closely with Robin Rigg control room personnel, enabling us to keep up to date with operations or issues that may arise within the wind farm and to ensure the smooth running of this project.
